Eskom Extends Load Shedding Suspension 2023

Eskom, the South African power utility, has extended the suspension of load shedding due to improved performance of its generation fleet and the full recovery of emergency reserves. Load shedding, previously set to resume on Monday, will now only recommence on Tuesday at 16:00.

The schedule for load shedding on Tuesday involves Stage 1 load shedding from 4 pm until 5 am on Wednesday.

Subsequently, load shedding will be suspended from 5 am to 4 pm, followed by Stage 1 load shedding from 4 pm to 5 am on Thursday. This daily pattern will continue until further notice.

Currently, Eskom faces breakdowns totaling 13,559MW, while planned maintenance affects 4,765MW of generation capacity.

The demand forecast for the evening peak stands at 25,054MW. Eskom has assured that it will communicate promptly if any significant changes arise in the situation.
